Rosso di Montalcino

Montalcino does not only include Brunello among its great children but also Rosso which is born in the same vineyards and is destined to be enjoyed first.

It is thus possible to have, together with its extraordinary structure, the characteristics of liveliness and freshness typical of a young product.

Rosso di Montalcino is an elegant, brilliant, tasty wine, with excellent intensity and aroma and ready to drink.

It is traditionally accompanied by those dishes of Tuscan cuisine that use pasta with meat, mushroom and truffle sauces and second courses of pork, veal, poultry and game, and medium-aged cheeses.

It must be served in crystal red wine glasses at a temperature of 18°C.

Our Rosso di Montalcino Podere Paganico doc:

  • Production area: Municipality of Montalcino.
  • Grape variety: 100% Sangiovese Grosso (called “Brunello” inMontalcino).
  • Maximum grape yield: 90 quintals per hectare.
  • Yield of grapes in wine: 70%.
  • Release for consumption: not before 1 September of the yearfollowing the harvest.
  • Color: intense ruby ​​red with violet reflections.
  • Odour: characteristic and intense perfume, persistent,qualitatively fine and spicy, fruity.
  • Taste: dry, warm, quite soft, quite fresh, quite tannic,structurally full-bodied, savory.
  • Alcohol content: approximately 14°.
  • Total dry extract: approximately 34 g/l.
  • Packaging: in 0.75 liter Bordeaux bottles.

It is produced with selected grapes from our vineyard,managed with care and dedication, harvested by hand and immediately processedin our cellar.

The vinification takes place in stainless steel vats with amaximum capacity of 50 hl, and after fermentation, and a short period of rest,the wine is placed, for small quantities, in French oak containers of 500 and225 liters for a period about six months.

Bottled after filtration and left to refine in glass atleast three months before being released on the market.

Our production is around 8000 bottles per year.
